High-speed internet, smartphones and social media platforms have deeply transformed how humans interact between themselves and with organizations. Those changes are also reflected in the world of marketing. Inbound marketing, content marketing, influencer marketing, social media marketing, search engine optimization, search and social advertising, email marketing, digital branding… the disciplines of digital marketing are diverse and increasingly complex. And most of these specialities did not exist 10 years ago. The present course aims at presenting current trends, best practices and methodologies used by professionals around the world.

About the speaker:

Yan is a self-confessed geek who helps organizations navigate the high seas of digital and social media. As Head of Social Media at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), he is responsible for the global social media and new media strategy covering 80 countries.

Yan started his career as a brand marketing and communications manager, working in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Broadcast Media fields, including the Swiss offbeat brand Parisienne. He established and led the digital corporate communications department for Couleur3, the youth program of leading Swiss public service radio and TV broadcaster – Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS). Yan was a social, new media and content strategy adviser for Montreux Jazz Festival, the world famous annual jazz event which attracts more than 200,000 people every year and hosts musicians such as Deep Purple, Santana, Pink Floyd and many others.

His professional portfolio also includes handling social media and digital communications projects at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), one of the world’s most prestigious universities in technology.

As Head of Digital Communications at Presence Switzerland within the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Yan led digital and social strategy for Switzerland’s image promotion abroad on major international events, including XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Universal Expositions, among others. He also coached ambassadors, embassies and consulates regarding social media and new media strategy.

Yan is also a lecturer on digital communications and social media management at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), Haute École de Gestion de Genève (HEG) and Institut Suisse de Relations Publiques (SPRI). In addition, he is a regular speaker at international events and conferences.

Besides being a digital media geek, Yan is a successful entrepreneur: he runs a pop-up restaurant in Lausanne and is a co-owner of a social club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
